1996 Hallmark Beatrix Potter EASTER SPRING Ornament \"Peter Rabbit\" First In Series
In 1996, Hallmark came out with a \"Beatrix Potter\" Series in their Easter ornament line. As it turns out, the first one, Peter Rabbit, was misprinted with a Christmas tree on the bottom instead of the Easter egg typically put on their Springtime collection. When Hallmark realized the error, they requested that all stores destroy their remaining Peter Rabbit ornaments. Some, fortunately, were sold before the error was discovered. They are becoming more difficult to find. Serious collectors hang on to the ones they have.
