Louise E. Haskell\'s New SalemHigh School Students’ Autographs Album 1898-1904
This sweetautograph album holds remarkable memories of a time lost by our currentstandards and will be a welcome addition to your collection.
The albummeasures 3 ¾ x 6 inches, bound in worn maroon velvet covered boards, there is achip to the velvet at upper left, the binding is over opened and somediscoloration to the covers otherwise in good condition.
There are22 pages with a manuscript entry, to include an 1898 entry by Louise E. Haskell\'smother, numerous pages have a Victorian die-cut attached. Most of the other entreesare from 1901-1904 and either express affectionate or humorous quotes or aresimply signed and dated and include the name of a nearby home town of the New SalemHigh School student.
New Salemno longer has a physical high school within the town; high school age studentsattend nearby regional schools. The building is now the home of the New SalemMuseum & Academy of Fine Art.
Beside NewSalem some of the towns noted are; Moores Corner, Cooleyville, Wendell, MillersFalls, Orange, Shutesbury.
Aside fromOrange, MA, that had a population of 5,500 people in 1901, the rest of thetowns or in some cases villages within towns had populations below 500.
