Like a Dutch oven, the Homer cast-iron pot isa heavy-duty workhorse. With an 8-inch, flat-bottomed cooking surface andhigh-sided 4.5-quart volume, it is the perfect size and shape for cooking on acampfire, frying on stovetop, baking bread in the oven, and making a mean bowlof stew or popcorn.

CARE

Sohere’s the tried-and-true, every-day, easy-as-pie maintenance routine. Washyour pan—using water, and soap! Then put it on your stovetop over low-to-mediumheat for a minute or two, until all sides are completely dry. And lastly, onceit’s cooled, apply a thin layer of our cast-iron conditioner to the cookingsurface with a paper towel or dish rag, wiping away any excess.

SEASONING

Our customersare right—our pans do not arrive black. In part, because they are smooth. Butalso because, despite being pre-seasoned into a luscious caramel color, theywill still require the primary source of seasoning—cooking—to turn into thatcoffee color we have come to associate with a “seasoned” piece of cast iron.

By its very definition, seasoning takes time, like a good paint job or the patina on a pair of fineleather boots. It won’t look perfect right away, and its progress will dependon myriad factors, from your oil to your ingredients to your stove.
