This Millers Falls No. 12 Breast Drill is pictured in Catalog # 39 from 1925 (Internet Archive) . The manufacturer and model number is hard to read on the 2 jaw chuck but if you check the details carefully it matches. I expect someone clamped the chuck with pliers to free an over tightened bit. The wood handles are Dalbergia Species.
Someone else carefully cleaned this item and much of the japanning is missing. The level vial is good. There is some writing stamped on the level vial plate but it is hard to read. There is no writing on the crank handle. The crank handle is very slightly bent out of 90 degrees to the sprocket. It all works very well. The handle can be adjusted in and out. This drill has 2 speeds with 2 gears. The sprockets can be moved up to engage the large gear and there is a small bearing up the stem to support the large gear. The tool weighs about 5 lbs. 11 oz. and is 17 1/2" long. The item will be shipped partially unassembled.Buyer pays cost of USPS ground or other shipping with tracking. International buyers welcome. I pack carefully and use recycled materials when possible. I would be happy to answer any questions or send more photos. Returns are allowed if my description wasn't accurate. Seller pays return shipping.
