Mick Strider Custom MSC SM-100 SnG CC, Nightmare Grind, Full Dragon Spine:
$11000.00

This is a very rare MSC SnG CC with one of the few SM-100 blades Mick has made. The blade is finished normally but Mick left the distressed gold color that you get from heat-treated SM-100 visible inside the opening hole and in the sharpening choil. The SM-100 makes this the lightest SnG you will find at 3.74 oz.

About SM-100:

Duane Dwyer founded Strider Knives along with Mick Strider and was also the main knifemaker that worked to bring SM-100 to the knife industry. SM-100 or HIPTiNite was originally developed, literally by NASA to be used as a material for ball bearings in space. This is not steel. It\'s a titanium and nickel alloy that effectively becomes heat-treatable titanium. A standard titanium blade has an HRC around 40 and cannot hold an edge so usually, makers rely on added carofferes to allow for longer term cutting. That results in a \"sandy\" edge. SM-100 being heat-treatable, holds an edge like a standard steel would but with extra, non-steel characteristics. It is lighter than steel, non-magnetic, completely corrosion-proof, and it retains the \"memory\" that titanium has. That memory allows it to keep an edge in extreme cases better than steel. The edge will deform and return to true, rather than chip or roll. It is a rare and difficult material to work with.
