For sale is a Massive Collection of 1910’s to 1970’s original West Shore Railroad Company First Mortgage Bonds Certificates, in both $1000 and $500 denominations.
—Over 300+ Old Stock Certificates—
These certificates feature stunning orange-hued borders, intricate vignettes of early steamships and locomotives, and classic 19th-century typography.
West Shore Railroad Company was a major competitor and rival of Cornelius Vanderbilt’s New York Central. During the late 1800’s, Cornelius Vanderbilt’s New York Central (NYC) was the king of the rails, from New York City to Buffalo. However in the early 1880s, a group of investors (backed by Vanderbilt's rival, the Pennsylvania Railroad) built the West Shore Railway Co.
They didn't just build a competing line; they built it directly parallel to Vanderbilt’s tracks.
Company: West Shore Railroad Company (New York/New Jersey line).
Denomination: Includes both $1,000 and $500 face value certificates.
Visuals: Features a central vignette of a steamship on the Hudson River and detailed ornamental engraving.
Condition: Used vintage condition. Some have small rips, stains, corner writing, folds, hole cancelations. Overall in fair condition, as pictured.
These normally sell at around $10 each, I'm pricing these at just $5 each due to this being such a large collection. Priced low to sell.
