Beautiful signed Mara Mexico art-pottery platter featuring a large rectangular form with gently irregular, sculpted edges and an elaborate abstract floral/botanical design.

The wide blue-gray border is particularly detailed, with numerous small incised, impressed, and raised decorative motifs worked directly into the pottery. The center incorporates muted sage green, blue, burgundy/red, pink, cream, and earth-tone glazes in a free-form modernist botanical composition.

Mara stoneware is known for designs that are hand-engraved and hand-painted with glaze, giving the pieces considerably more texture and dimensional detail than ordinary transfer-decorated ceramics. Design by Mara

Condition is very good. I found no chips, cracks, hairline cracks, or repairs. The front remains clean and glossy with strong color and excellent definition to the numerous small engraved and relief details. As expected with hand-finished stoneware, there are minor glaze variations, speckling and small surface irregularities that are part of the handmade character of the piece.

The metal hanger on the reverse appears to be attached display hardware; I would not claim that hardware as factory-original without documentation.

This is a particularly decorative Mara piece that works equally well as a large serving platter or displayed as wall art.
