Original 1965 AP Wirephoto press photo of Malcolm X.Dramatic and rare portrait image (i have not seen before) was taken in Rochester on February 16, and used in The Rochester Chronicle) in published reports of the assassination (which was of all the more interest to Rochester as Malcolm X had just been there days earlier). On February 16, 1965, Malcolm X spoke at Corn Hill Methodist Church in Rochester. It was one of his last public appearances outside New York City, five days before he was killed at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem. The talk came two days after his family home in Queens was firebombed.
