Magnificent & Rare field collected BETE GUERE WE Spider MASK [Boston Primitive] For Sale

This magnificent Bete spider mask is dramatically abstracted and remarkably carved from a single piece of wood. This despite the many vulnerable appendages wanting to break off. It is bulky and heavy, couldn't be a joy to wear! The small slit eyes couldn't offer good visibility. The horns, or legs, erupt from its cheeks and the open mouth retains one-and-a-half metal teeth. All things considered it is in superb condition and will be the cornerstone of a good collection. The stylization of the face is a woodcarving wonder. It is just over 12" tall, 8" wide and over 6" deep. It will be packed very carefully (see my response). I do not sell or ship internationally.
