Barney and Ally Hartman first came up with the name, Mountain Dew, as a joke in 1932. It was an old 19th century name for moonshine. In the early 40\'s, the brothers started making this lithiated lemon drink to be mixed with hard liquor.
John Brochette made the first drawings of a character called Willy the Hillbilly in 1946. Later, the Tip Corporation was now bottling Mountain Dew. In 1964, Pepsi bought the Tip Corporation with the rights to bottle Mountain Dew.
This is a somewhat rare one, it features the painted red, Willy the Hillbilly on both sides of the neck. The face states, \"Filled by George and Skinny\", on the face. It also has Willy the Hillbilly on both sides of the neck. There were well over 1000 different named bottles that stated \"filled / bottled by\" on the face. Starting in 1964, Pepsi used the \"It\'ll tickle yore innards!\" expletive with Willy the Hillbilly on some of their bottles. In 1973, the company wanted a more mature drinker, so they abandoned the Willy character to a brighter label.
This 12 oz. bottle is full. The condition of the graphics is perfect, all around the bottle. It has 2 lines of very light case wear. The bottle has no chips or cracks. The Mountain Dew cap looks good, as shown.
Shipping for this bottle will be only $9.00 anywhere in the U.S. for 2-4 day mail.
