This ELEGANT wool and cotton 1870's/1880's hexagon stars quilt is all hand pieced and hand quilted, with a secondary star design created by the triangle in the background. It measures 76" X 88" and is in very good condition, with the occasional light spot, a handful of moth nibbles in some pieces (see pics), and no wear. The quilt feels strong and sturdy overall.
The hand quilting is superb (especially for a quilt with wool), with close grid designs quilted throughout at an even 8-9 stitches to the inch.
The back is a gorgeous early brown fabric, the hand stitched binding is an early dark solid brown wool fabric, and the batting is thin.
The VIBRANT COLORS, DENSE HAND QUILTING, and WONDERFUL BROWN BACK make this 19th century beauty stand out!
