Up for sale is a truly remarkable and cohesive collection of 44 vintage/antique glass magic lantern slides dedicated entirely to astronomy, astrophysics, planetary science, and celestial mapping.
This institutional-style astronomy lecture set dates approximately from the 1920s–1940s and features historical astrophotography, intricate scientific diagrams, planetary and lunar maps, hand-drawn astronomical observations, observatory imagery, and rare mechanical/movable slides. Several pieces are associated with or credited to important astronomical institutions and figures, including Lick Observatory and astronomer J. E. Keeler.

CONDITION REPORT
These slides are approximately 80–100 years old and have been kept in their original, as-found estate condition.
The Good:
The photographic emulsions and images are mostly clear, highly detailed, and display remarkably sharp contrast when backlit. Many of the original labels, handwritten notes, and grease-pencil notations remain intact.
Age-Related Wear:
These are antique scientific teaching slides and are not in perfect condition. Please expect typical age-related wear, including dusty glass surfaces, minor aging or silvering around some borders, minor emulsion flaking on select slides, and brittle or faded paper tape along the edges.
A small number of slides exhibit minor surface scuffs or small edge/corner chips to the protective binding glass. Despite this wear, the core images remain bright, detailed, and projectable.
