Up for sale is a lot of three antique \"eggbeater\" style hand drills — a great grouping spanning roughly the 1880s through the early 20th century, with two respected American tool making names represented: Millers Falls and Keen Kutter (E.C. Simmons).
1. Millers Falls No. 343
Clearly marked on the crank arm: \"MILLERS FALLS CO. — No. 343 — MILLERS FALLS, MASS.\" Knurled steel side handle, cast crank wheel, geared chuck jaws. A standard mid-line Millers Falls model with a fully legible maker\'s stamp — great for display or actual use.
2. E.C. Simmons Keen Kutter
Aluminum barrel-style side handle stamped with the classic Keen Kutter shield-and-arrow logo: \"E.C. SIMMONS — KEEN KUTTER.\" Keen Kutter was Simmons Hardware Company\'s flagship tool brand and remains highly sought after by Americana and advertising collectors as well as tool collectors. Black-finished crank wheel, chuck present and functional.
3. Millers Falls \"#1, Second Model\" — c. 1880–1895
The oldest of the three by a couple of decades. Turned rosewood ball handle, simpler early-style chuck consistent with Millers Falls\' first significant hand drill line. A nice example of early American drill design before later steel-and-knurl construction took over.
Condition: All three show honest age — surface oxidation, light rust on the crank wheel of one, and wear consistent with genuine use over 100+ years. Please review photos closely, as they are part of the description. Crank wheels turn on all three; chucks appear to open and close as intended, though not extensively tested under load.
Why this lot: Three different manufacturing eras and two well-documented brands in one grouping — a nice starter lot for someone building a hand tool collection, or a solid addition for an existing Millers Falls or Keen Kutter collector filling gaps.
