Wonderful matching lot of two original antique Easter postcards from the early 1900s, both featuring colorful embossed designs with metallic gold backgrounds.
The first card reads “A Joyful Easter” and features three chicks, including a chick emerging from a large blue egg and two chicks amusingly pulling on opposite ends of a worm. Red clover and green foliage complete the colorful Easter scene.
The second reads “Happy Easter Greetings” and features a particularly unusual scene of two children dressed in chick costumes breaking open a giant Easter egg, with a chick standing in the foreground and blue flowers along the side.
Both postcards have the same divided-back design and both have the name “Marvin Truitt” handwritten lightly on the address side. Neither card appears to have been mailed, and neither has a postage stamp or postal cancellation.
Both cards feature strong raised embossing, which is clearly visible from the reverse.
