A newly married woman Irene, married to Nestor who was a Durkee Famous Foods executive. He was pivotal in the marketing of oleo/margarine. He even spoke to Congress regarding it. This is years 5-8 of their busy life in Ohio. They were devout Roman Catholics, and very involved in the church. Did lots of work with the Republican Party. They have a strong interest in horses. Irene is very involved in local organizations, and kept a separate book noting what she served at events/meetings. She kept very accurate records on her community activities, volunteer work at the hospital and church, her housework, meal preparation and gardening. Their second daughter Susie\'s adoption is documented in this 4 book lot.
A delightful history of family, they were originally from Jefferson Wisconsin where they were married. The diaries start when they are living in Huron Ohio.
