This is a life-size 1:1 replica created from a three-dimensional scan of an actual adult female human skull from our private collection.

Rather than beginning with an idealised anatomy model, the form, proportions, dentition and individual characteristics come from the original specimen. We have deliberately kept that character rather than smoothing everything into the perfectly symmetrical appearance commonly seen on mass-produced teaching skulls.

If you want a skull simply to show where the bones are, there are cheaper options. If you want a replica derived from an actual human specimen, this is what we made this one for.

Based On An Actual Human Skull

The distinction matters.

Many anatomical skull models are basic representations of what a human skull is supposed to look like. They are useful teaching aids, but individual variation is usually reduced or removed.

Our model was created from a real adult female skull held in our private reference collection. The original specimen was three-dimensionally scanned and used as the basis of this replica, preserving the natural proportions and asymmetries of an individual human skull.

You can see anatomical detail through the nasal aperture, orbital cavities and cranial interior, while the removable upper cranium gives access to the internal cranial cavity.

The mandible is a separate component and is articulated using metal springs in the traditional medical-skull style. It can be opened and closed rather than being permanently fixed in one position.

The top section of the cranium is also removable, secured using traditional-style brass-effect hooks. Removing it exposes the internal cranial anatomy and makes the model considerably more useful for anatomical study, teaching, drawing reference and display.

This is not intended to be a glossy plastic classroom prop.

We print at high resolution in Carnivore Studios Ultra Strong PLA HD and hand finish each skull in-house. The natural bone-coloured finish keeps the surface understated and allows the anatomy to do the work.

It works equally well as a medical or anatomical reference, artist\'s reference, osteology display, collector\'s piece, educational model or simply as an unusually convincing human skull replica.

The model preparation, production and photography are all carried out by Carnivore Studios.

No AI was used to create the product design and no AI was used to create the product photographs.

The skull shown in our photographs is the product we actually make.

The standard skull is supplied in our natural bone-coloured finish.

For customers wanting a more aged, archaeological, forensic or museum-style appearance, hand-painted finishes are also available at additional cost.

Our painted work is built up in layers by hand in-house rather than given a quick single wash. We produce specialist finishes for private collectors, museum work and screen use.
