Late 1800\'s City of New York Old Guard Dress Coat Uniform Post Civil War RARE For Sale

Here is an original Late 1800\'s Dress Coat from the Old Guard of the City of New York. It was consolidated in 1868 when state legislation merged the predecessor organizations theNew York Light Guard(1826, founded by Col. William W. Tompkins) and theNew York City Guard(1833, founded by Capt. William M. McArdle). Dating this item came from its overall design, speaking with the family I acquired it from, and from the button maker, Boylan & co. New York which is on all the buttons. If you look at pic 6 you will see. One of the buttons fell off at some point but I have it and it will be put in the breast pocket of the coat for shipping. There is no makers name in the jacket. Items of this age usually never had such identifiers. Although the coat is in amazing condition for the age it does have numerous issues which should be expected in a piece of this age including some soiling, moth damage, tears and repairs, general age related wear and damage. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to show every last detail of wear and/or damage in the allotted 12 photos so understand before you offer that you are offerding on the overall nature of this item and it\'s value in as is condition to the serious collector.
