Large vintage handwoven pictorial rug featuring a Yei Bi Chei–inspired procession of figures surrounded by bold geometric borders. Earth-tone palette of cream, gray, brown, black and rust red.
Measures approximately 51" × 84". Measurements may vary slightly due to the handmade and irregular nature of the weaving.
Unsigned with no tags or maker information. The material appears to be wool. Based on its design and construction, this is probabl a Mexican/Zapotec-style weaving; it is not represented as an authenticated Navajo or Diné-made textile.
Vintage preowned condition with visible wear. There are pulled and loose yarns in the cream central field, plus an additional open/pulled area near one edge. Other age-related wear, surface fuzz, embedded fibers, occasional pet hair and small debris may remain. There is one small area that looks like melted metal (small area, please see photo). The stains/metallic area seem to be on the 'backside' which is in slightly rougher condition. Gently vacuumed/surface cleaned only; no wet cleaning attempted. Please examine all photographs closely for construction and condition details.
