ABOUT THIS SANTA
Four farm animals gather around him, and each one is carved in the round. The calf stretches up toward his beard with its tongue out. The pig noses in at his boot, and the rooster stands at his feet with its red comb held high. Fine gold lines trace the folds of his red coat, and tiny white flecks fall across it like snow. The fur trim is dry-brushed in white so it looks frosted, and a woven basket of red apples and pine sprigs hangs from his arm. Look closely and you will see the chisel texture in his long white beard. Painting the calf\'s black and white patches, the pink pig and the rooster\'s feathers is slow, careful work on small curved shapes. At 14 inches tall he anchors a mantel, a sideboard or a dining table, and he fits right into farmhouse Christmas decor. He would also make a good gift for a farmer. A farmhouse Christmas, with the whole barnyard gathered round.
