Large Natural 8 grams Tanzanite Crystal Specimen from Merelani Hills, Tanzania For Sale

This specimen features a very well formed tanzanite crystal with an elongated prismatic habit and sharply defined faces marked by vertical striations. The crystal displays rich violet-blue coloration with strong pleochroic variation, and moderate translucency reveals internal inclusions and growth structures that add depth. Tanzanite is the blue to violet variety of zoisite found almost exclusively in the Merelani Hills of northern Tanzania near Mount Kilimanjaro, where it was discovered in 1967. The crystals formed within metamorphic rocks as hydrothermal fluids interacted with calcium- and aluminum-rich host rocks, with trace vanadium producing the distinctive violet-blue color. With its vivid pleochroic coloration and origin from the only known tanzanite locality, this crystal represents a distinctive addition to a serious mineral collection.
