Lagunitas Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale Authentic Brewery Sticker
Authentic Lagunitas brewery sticker originally made for use on tap handles.
This beer has a great backstory. The owner of Lagunitas hosted a party at the brewery in Petaluma, California, where undercover officers were reportedly in attendance. Since cannabis had not yet been legalized in California, the brewery was investigated after marijuana was shared at the gathering, and Lagunitas was temporarily shut down.
According to the story, while being placed in the police car, the owner asked one of the officers, “When you were a kid, is this what you wanted to be when you grew up—a snitch?”
The officer sarcastically replied, “No, I wanted to be an astronaut.”
After the brewery reopened, Lagunitas released Undercover Investigation Shut-Down Ale. The bottle label included the fine-print dedication: “For all you wanna-be astronauts.”
A fun and unusual piece of Lagunitas brewing history.
