Kutani Kaga Province Oda Butterfly Pattern Cup & Saucer 571977 From Japan
Used - with no noticeable scratches or stains. This is an antique Kutani ware demitasse cup and saucer exported during the Meiji to Taisho period. The base is marked "Kaga-kuni Oda sei". The piece features extremely thin eggshell porcelain with a quatrefoil shape, decorated with hand-painted butterfly and karakusa motifs and gold gilding. The cup measures approximately 7.8cm x 7.2cm in width and 4.2cm in height. The saucer measures approximately 13cm x 11.5cm. There are no cracks or chips. Due to the age of approximately 100 years, there are signs of wear and fading to the gold gilding and painted decoration. There may be kiln marks and color variations from the manufacturing process, which are consistent with the historical character of the piece. Please check all photos, which show the actual item, and ask any questions before purchase.
