This reptile belongs to the species Keichousaurus hui which was a viviparous type of aquatic reptile from the nothosaurusfamily.The name derives from Kweichow (now Guizhou Province) in China where the first fossil specimen was discovered in 1957in the Triassic rocks near Xingyi city in Guizhou province of Southern China.There are several calcite veins running throughboth the skeleton and the limestone matrix.
