John Deere 1920s Model E Gasoline Engine No. 4350 Diecast Model ERTL 1/16 NOS: $45.00
The real-life John Deere Model E Gasoline Engine holds a notable place in agricultural history: Roots in Waterloo Boy: In March 1918, Deere & Company purchased the Waterloo Gasoline Engine Company in Waterloo, Iowa, acquiring the famous \"Waterloo Boy\" engine line. After continuing production on those for a few years, John Deere introduced its own branded Model E line starting in the early 1920s (with the 1½-hp version arriving around 1921–1923). Workhorses of the Farm: Built in 1, 3, and 6-horsepower sizes, these dependable, heavy-duty stationary \"hit-and-miss\" and throttle-governed engines were used all over American farms to power grain elevators, water pumps, lighting generators, and shop equipment. Longevity: The Model E proved to be so rugged and successful in design that John Deere manufactured them with very few alterations all the way until 1946.
The ERTL Company (Stock No. 4350) captured this piece of industrial history in miniature form with their precision die-cast replica, featuring working flywheels that pay homage to the classic era of early American farm power.
