James (Jimmy) Stewart (1908–1997). Academy Award-winning American actor and one of Hollywood\'s most beloved stars, remembered for such classics as It\'s a Wonderful Life, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Harvey, Rear Window, and Vertigo. Stewart was also a decorated World War II bomber pilot who flew 20 combat missions over Europe and eventually attained the rank of brigadier general in the U.S. Air Force Reserve.
8x10 color photograph of Stewart portraying aviation pioneer Charles A. Lindbergh in the 1957 Warner Bros. film The Spirit of St. Louis, directed by Billy Wilder. The photograph shows Stewart standing before a replica of Lindbergh\'s famous aircraft, in which Lindbergh completed the first solo nonstop transatlantic flight from New York to Paris in May 1927. Boldly signed “James Stewart” in black ink across the lower portion of the image.
Stewart\'s remarkable life and military service are the subjects of the new biographical film Jimmy, starring KJ Apa and scheduled for theatrical release on November 6, 2026. The film explores his World War II service and his return to Hollywood, culminating in his unforgettable performance in It\'s a Wonderful Life (1946).
A particularly attractive signed photograph combining two celebrated figures in American aviation history: Charles Lindbergh and Jimmy Stewart. Stewart wasn\'t merely playing an aviator. He was himself an accomplished pilot and decorated military officer. That connection makes the Lindbergh portrayal especially appealing.
