Japanese Style Wakizashi Sword – Modern Reproduction – Signed Blade with Tsuba & Saya
Offered here is a Japanese-style wakizashi sword that is being sold strictly as a modern reproduction/decorative collectible. It is not represented as an antique Japanese nihonto.
The blade has a visible patterned/forged appearance and measures approximately 18-5/16 inches (46.5 cm) from the mune-machi to the tip. The tang bears a three-character Japanese inscription that appears to read 盛光作 (Morimitsu saku / “made by Morimitsu”). This inscription is not authenticated and is believed to be a reproduction signature; no attribution to the historical Japanese swordsmith Morimitsu is being made.
The sword includes the blade, lacquered saya/scabbard, tsuka/handle, iron tsuba, habaki, seppa/spacers and retaining peg as pictured.

Nagasa: 18-5/16" (46.5 cm)
Sori: 1/2" (1.27 cm)
Width at base: 1-1/8"
Width near point: 7/8"
Tang length: 5-3/4"
Kissaki: approximately 1-1/4"
The round iron tsuba measures approximately 75 mm in diameter and 6 mm thick and weighs approximately 194 grams. It has decorative nature motifs and metal accents.
