$94.81

Japanese Traditional Craft Seto Akazu ware(Seto Akazuyaki 瀬戸赤津焼):A Japanese Matcha tea bowlfeaturing Black Oribe(黒織部) glaze hand-formed at Rokubei(六兵衛) Kiln in Seto city, Aichi Prefecture Japan.
The Rokubei Kiln is one of the representative kilns of Seto Akazu ware, which continues to be certified as a traditional craft.
The item is made of black Oribe glaze featuring hand-drawn moderngeometric pattern with Kannyu(crackle glaze).■Condition:Brand 4.7\"(12cm), Height 3.15\"(8cm), 330g
  • Design:Matcha tea bowl, Black Oribe Glaze, Traditional Craft, w/Wooden washer & Microwave:Not recommended
  • Not compatible with ovens(direct flames)
  • The item comes with a wooden box.
    • Made of \"Setoyaki瀬戸焼\" earthenware and hand-formed at Rokubei(六兵衛) kiln in Seto-city(瀬戸市), Aichi prefecture, Japan. Each item is handcrafted using a potter\'s wheel in the same way as 400 years ago.
    • Among Setoyaki, the ware made in the Akazu area is called \"Akazuyaki\", and the high quality ware made using traditional techniques has been branded and certified as a national traditional craft.
    • The Rokubei kiln is one of the most representative kilns for Seto Akazuyaki, and is also known for producing the matcha tea bowls used at the Japan Pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, and as souvenirs for those involved in the 2016 Ise-Shima Summit.
    • Oribe glaze is generally characterized by its deep green color, but there are many other types such as black Oribe glaze, blue Oribe glaze, red Oribe glaze, pink Olibe and gray Olibe glaze.
    • Black Oribe is a technique in which the item is taken out of the kiln once the firing of the Oribe glaze is completed, and is rapidly cooled to give the iron glaze a jet black color. It is also characterized by the addition of patterns. The jet black & monotone design is modern and blends well with modern dining tables.
    • When the potter\'s wheel is rotated and the clay is pulled up and shaped with fingers, the marks left by the fingers on the surface as the potter\'s wheel rotates are called \"ROKUROME,\" and they are not only simple in modeling, but also good in their resistance to glaze)\":cracks in the glaze that occur during cooling after firing. Of course, it will be a decoration rather than a crack in the soil. If you use the patterns of the Kannyu that change as you use them on a daily basis with the mindset of \"nurturing the scenery\'\', you will grow into something that you will become especially attached to.
