8" Stone Statue Protector of Women Health Children
It appears to me to be in great condition, but please expand and examine all photos carefully. It is an estate find and am not the original owner so don’t know what it looked like when it was brand new. I think it’s hand-carved stone of some type—quite weighty—it has a mostly textured, rustic surface but there are some smooth places: the hands and the statues’s left ear. I do not know if they have some slight damage or if that is original condition/construction.
Jizo statues (Jizō Bosatsu) are beloved Japanese Buddhist stone figures representing a bodhisattva who protects travelers, women, and especially children.
