This is an exceedingly rare, vintage JOHN F KENNEDY PRESIDENTIAL YACHT PATCH FROM THE USS SEQUOIA (\"The Floating White House\"). It\'s an impossible-to-find surviving insignia from America\'s Presidential yacht tradition and the Kennedy White House. Measuring approximately 3.25\" in diameter, the circular patch is executed on dark navy twill and features a finely embroidered Presidential Seal surrounded by “U.S.S. SEQUOIA” and “PRESIDENTIAL YACHT,” all enclosed by a distinctive gold embroidered border.This patch is instantly distinguishable from modern versions by its extraordinary quality and craftsmanship, particularly itsgold merrowed edge, exposed reverse stitching, dense machine embroidery, somewhat irregular block-serif lettering, and the absence of anyplasticized backing, heat-seal coating, Velcro, or modern adhesive layer. Instead, the embroidery is exposed directly on the reverse, with numerous loose/traveling threads and the base fabric plainly visible. (Note:Minor loose threads and evidence of age are consistent with vintage manufacture and should be preserved rather than restored.)Carefully preserved for 60+ years, the patch remains in excellent vintage condition and is accompanied by a sheet of original Kennedy Administration White House stationery. ABOUT THE PRESIDENTIAL YACHT \'SEQUOIA\': The USS Sequoia served as a key Presidential vessel during the Kennedy Administration. The Naval History and Heritage Command confirms Kennedy\'s frequent use of Sequoia, including his entertainment of Pakistani President Mohammad Ayub Khan aboard the yacht in 1961.The National Archives has described Sequoia as functioning as an unofficial presidential yacht during this period and documents Kennedy\'s use of the vessel with Jacqueline Kennedy and their family.Most significantly, Kennedy used Sequoia for what became one of the yacht\'s best-known presidential occasions: his final birthday celebration on May 29, 1963. Thebirthday dinner and cruise with family and friends would be the President\'s last.Kennedy would be assassinated less than six months later -- and the May 29 celebration gave Sequoia an enduring association with the Kennedy Presidency.
