This is a medium sized soapstone carving of what appears to be an Inuit woman with a fish in her hands. The Carving has one major issue and that is a very noticeable chip near the carvings head. There is also a chip near the base. It’s really too bad as the rest of the figure is in decent condition and it’s well done with the official Eskimo Art tag.
The artist is Isah Papialuk who was born 1926 Povungnituk Quebec.
The carving is approx 6 inches tall and 5 inches in length. It weighs 1.36kg or about 3 lbs.
Please have a look at the photos to make sure you are comfortable with the condition. I’m happy to try and answer any questions so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.

*Canadian buyers: Canadian shipping rates vary based on the distance of the buyer from the seller as well as the distance of the buyer from the closest major city centre. My rates are quoted using Canada Post - either a prepaid Canada post box or ’s calculated shipping. On any purchase I always shop and compare shippers and if I’m able to find a cheaper rate I will provide a refund. My intention is not to profit from shipping and simply want to cover my costs.*
