Gale Highsmith started collecting fluted axes in 1959. For the following 25 years he studied and collected. In 1985 he published this book - an absolute masterpiece - the \"bible\" on the subject. Gale passed away in 1993. At that time his entire collection was boxed up and put into storage - never touched for the next 32 years. Finally in 2026 the collection was brought out into the open.
I have in my possession over 60 of Gale\'s fluted axes, also about a dozen celts. Most all of these are documented in the book. The majority of the axes have Wisconsin origin, with a handful found in Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Illinois and Texas. The only way to truly appreciate these axes one needs to see them in person. If you would like to examine these, give me a yell. I live about 15 miles north of Green Bay Wisconsin. Thanks.
