When I first listed this I had a BIN of 450.00 which was a steal.Now 225.00...someone is going to get the deal of the century. It is truly a stunning work of art.
Incolay made many plates over the years but this dragon centerpiece with stand is an incredibly rare piece. I have seen just this one in 20 years of collecting.Very impressive size at 11\" x 3\" tall (Base and platter are one piece) Made is the late 1960\'s in California. Color is a pale grayish blue with off white dragons. Incolay stone is a complex combination of minerals including Onyx, Malachite, Carnelian, etc. The minerals are crushed and ground forming an aggregate. Various colored minerals and coupling agents are combined in the artwork to produce the beauty of natural stone. I see many items on claiming to be Incolay. If it does not have either the label or an impressed Incolay stamp on the piece then it is not Incolay...
Except for a few light scratches on base there are no chips/nicks/stains of any kind. This piece will require a very large box and extra bubble wrap and bracing.
