Have owned for 30+ years was told, actually on our receipt from Harris Antiques in the French Quarter, it says, very very old "Ancient/Antique" ISLAMIC, IRAQI, Persian "Cloisonne Sweet Meats Plate/Tray" used @ restaurants, or possibly as delivery objects a long time ago. The wood parts need a little restoration, the object is as it is when we bought it. Been in a cardboard box, wrapped in proper cloths and kept safe in one of our storage facilities.
Measurements are Wood top & bottom 14" around, slight indentation, as top is a lid to fit the bottom tightly to cover the 9 food sections, 1 in center measures 5 & 1/2 inches in diameter, each of the 8 surrounding sections are approx5 & 1/2 inches at the outer border wide, 3 & 1/2 inches deep in the wedge.
Heavily and beautifully enameled work over some kind of metal, copper, and the underside a sort of yellowish glaze, that has obviously been redone a few times!!
This item is as is when we got, the wood fits the way it was designed and all of the sections are in good shape, not many enamel chips, most of gold gilding intact, all an all a nice Ancient piece of Middle Eastern, Persian Art, FoodRelic.
