ICONIC Vintage 1930s Martha SLEEPER Carved Wood Brass Burmese Woman BROOCH For Sale

Wonderfully expressive, hand carved, hardwood pin with brass trim, miniature bell earrings and vinyl cord "hair". The pin depicts a long-necked Burmese woman. In real life, the appearance of a long neck is achieved by the wearing of a brass coil around the neck. This pin is featured in a photo that accompanies a magazine article about its designer, Martha Sleeper. In addition to these hand carved wood pins, Martha Sleeper is well known for her playful bakelite pins. The pin measures 3 3/8 inches by 1 3/4 inches. Excellent, original condition.
