I. Godinger 1855 Email de Limoges Fabergé Egg Plate 7.5\" Hand Decorated Gilt For Sale

This striking 7½-inch plate showcases a richly decorated central egg in turquoise, magenta, yellow and gold, surrounded by elaborate ornamental details, draped garlands and scrolling accents. The composition has the opulent character associated with the jeweled Imperial eggs of the Fabergé tradition.

The plate is further enhanced by gilt/gold decoration along the inner border and outer rim, giving the piece an especially luxurious appearance.

The backstamp specifically states “décoré à la main à S. Marino” — hand decorated at San Marino.

The color combination on this example is exceptional. The turquoise ground with vivid magenta and yellow ornament and extensive gold detailing gives the egg an almost jewel-like appearance. The elaborate border and gilt accents complete the presentation.

These were produced as collectible decorative pieces rather than ordinary tableware, and examples of the Fabergé Egg design are found in the secondary collector market.
