Hopi Kachina Corn Hanging Doll is a traditional Hopi (or Katsina) doll depicting a corn-related spirit, such as the Rugan (Corn Dancer or Corn Boy), designed for hanging as a decorative or educational piece. These dolls are central to Hopi culture, carved primarily from cottonwood root, and embody spiritual beings (katsinam) that represent natural elements like corn—a sacred symbol of fertility, sustenance, and the four directions (red, yellow, blue, and white corn).

Hopi Kachina dolls, also known astithuorkatsintithuin the Hopi language (withkatsinabeing the preferred term for the spirits themselves), are hand-carved wooden figures that represent thekatsinam—immortal spirit beings in Hopi mythology. These spirits act as messengers between humans and the natural world, bringing rain, fertility, good hunting, and harmony with nature. They visit the Hopi people (who live in northeastern Arizona) from winter solstice through mid-July, performing dances and ceremonies to support the community.

A "hanging doll" specifically refers to a traditional style of Kachina doll designed for suspension, often from a wall, beam, or cradle in Hopi homes. These dolls are given to Hopi children (especially young girls) during ceremonies to teach about thekatsinam, their roles, and cultural traditions.
