Antique & Vintage Photographs EST. 1998 Hong Kong Kowloon Street Scene Man Roast Duck J C Lozouet c1970 VTG Press Photo
This is a silver gelatin photograph that is unmounted and is 11½ x 8¼ inches (295x210mm).
It shows a candid street scene in Kowloon, Hong Kong, focusing on a man in a white jacket seen from behind. He is carrying a large platter holding what appears to be a whole roast duck or chicken, walking along a covered pavement next to a busy street. To the left, another man in a short-sleeved shirt walks towards the camera.
The background captures the bustling atmosphere of the city, with several pedestrians visible under the arcade and two double-decker buses on the road, a characteristic feature of Hong Kong\'s transport system. The architecture includes a large storefront window and an overhanging canopy, with partial lettering for \"THE ARCADE\" visible above. The clothing and vehicles suggest the photograph was taken around the 1970s.
The reverse of the photograph features several ink stamps, including one for the photographer, \"STUDIO PHOTO J.-C. LOZOUET\" of Paris, and another for the French press agency \"Holmes-Lebel\". Two typed labels affixed to the bottom confirm the location as \"HONG KONG\" and \"KOWLOON\". The extensive French text on the stamps details the terms of use for publication.
