The L-188 Electra is a turboprop airliner manufactured by the Lockheed Corporation. The Electra first flew in 1957. It was the first large turboprop airliner built in the United States. With its unique high power-to weight ratio, Allison 501-D13 engines with huge propellers, very short wings, large Fowler flaps which significantly increased effective wing area when deployed, the Electra had aircraft performance capabilities unmatched by many jet aircraft. Many are still in use today as freighters and in firefighting operations.
Eastern Airlines was a scheduled airline in the United States. The airline was founded on 19 April 1926 as Pitcairn Aviation. It was headquartered at the Miami International Airport, Florida. During its early years (1930\'s-1950\'s) the airline had a near monopoly in air travel between New York and Florida and dominated this market for decades afterwards. After many turbulent years, Eastern experienced its dissolution and stopped flying on 19 January 1991.
This Eastern Electra (N5537) was first delivered on 13 August 1959 and has a very colorful history. It flew with Eastern for about ten years until it was sold to Falconair Sweden on 16 September 1969 and assigned a new registration, SE-FGC. This aircraft went through thirteen more owners with multiple registrations, finally ending up with UK Channel Express Air Services in October of 1991. After its service with Channel Express, this aircraft was taken out of service, retired and ultimately scrapped (how very sad).

Almost every site I visited that carried it shows it as \"sold out\" or \"no longer available\". This Eastern L-188 Electra is a highly collectible and extremely rare model will be a welcome addition to any aviation collection and is the only one available.
