Experience a glimpse into the rich heritage of Persian sculpture, the cradle of the first civilization to establish a distinct and captivating artistic style. In the ancient Persian world, sculptures were reserved for deities, monarchs, and esteemed officials, their depictions reserved for various significant moments and contexts. Among these revered subjects, the seated statues of royal figures and distinguished officials held a special place, finding their eternal home in tombs.
This remarkable bronze sculpture pays homage to a Persian king adorned in battle attire, an embodiment of strength and valor. Cloaked in a resplendent long tunic and an intricately detailed royal headdress, he stands ready for battle, wielding a formidable spear and a sturdy shield to protect his kingdom. Crafted with the time-honored \"lost wax method,\" the sculpture\'s exquisite brown patina adds depth and character to the piece. It is elegantly poised on a black marble base, bearing the artist\'s signature, Kanaev, a testament to the enduring legacy of Persian artistry.
