This wooden Santa stands in a long red robe, with a wide collar fanning out behind his head and a staff with a gold-painted top. On the front of the robe, a painted St. Nicholas holds out a doll to a toddler in her big sister\'s arms.

Before our carver starts, the natural wood has already dried for several years. The whole Santa is hand carved from solid natural wood and hand painted with water-based acrylics by a professional artist, who signs the base.

ABOUT THIS SANTA
The St. Nicholas panel is the most careful painting on him. St. Nicholas stands in a stone archway under a blue sky, in a white and gold mitre and a red cope. A basket of red apples rests on his arm. The toddler in pink reaches for the doll, and her sister in a blue dress holds her up. A window with a pot of red flowers and a sprig of holly on the stones finish the corner. That many faces, hands and small objects on a curved, carved front take the artist several days. The back has a golden sash, gold scrolling vines with green leaves, and white stars. The figure himself is Santa, and St. Nicholas appears only in the painting. The staff has a gold spear-shaped top and lifts out of his mitten.
