This vintage beer stein was crafted by Gerz, West Germany. It is a rare regimental commemorative tankard marking the 1907-1909 service period for the Berlin Schoneberg unit. The stein features detailed lithographed scenes of military camps, railway bridges and early automobiles, printed alongside the roster of unit soldiers. The pewter lid is topped with a cavalry rider figurine, with an eagle ornament mounted on the hinge.Condition: Ceramic body has a small chip on the rim, no other cracks. The raised decorative relief bands around the stein have scattered wear to the high points. Pewter hinge works smoothly. Minor age wear on pewter surface and base.Provenance Note: There is an original 1979 German consignment receipt from Volkshilfe Ludwigsburg for these two military steins. This vintage paper document records the sale of two military steins for 100 Deutsche Mark, stamped “BEZAHLT / Erledigt”.
