The reverse bears an old handwritten notation in red ink reading approximately “Patton doing it to the Rhine River.”
This exact image has been documented by the 12th Armored Division Memorial Museum and the University of North Texas Portal to Texas History as “General George S. Patton on the Rhine,” dated March 24, 1945. Their catalog identifies the photographer as unknown.

Condition:
The photograph shows considerable age-related wear, including curling, creasing, edge wear, surface marks and some loss/wear along the image edges. I have not independently determined the date on which this particular physical print was produced. There are no visible press-agency, photographer or military stamps on the reverse. It is therefore being offered as a vintage photographic print of the documented March 24, 1945 Patton image, rather than represented as an authenticated first-generation or official Signal Corps print.
