George Augustus Sala (1828–1895) – autograph letter signed, 1 page, written from 125 Victoria St. S.W., c.1890, to Colonel Noel Allis.
Sala explains that when Allis called he was at the Sports and Arts Exhibition at the Grosvenor Gallery (held in 1890), “about which see D.T. of this morning,” referring to his Daily Telegraph column. He discusses an introduction proposed by Allis, remarking that “ten minutes’ conversation would do more practical good than a quire of correspondence,” and invites Allis or Mr. Thelson to call the next afternoon between 3 and 7 p.m.
Mounted to an old album page (typical Victorian collector’s mount). Letter shows a neat vertical central fold from original handling.
A characteristic Sala letter from his late‑career London period, with a direct reference to the 1890 Grosvenor Gallery exhibition and his Daily Telegraph work.

George Augustus Henry Fairfield Sala (Nov 1828 – Dec 1895) was an author and journalist who wrote extensively for the Illustrated London News as G. A. S. and was most famous for his articles and leaders for The Daily Telegraph. He founded his own periodical, Sala's Journal, and the Savage Club. The former was unsuccessful but the latter still class="MsoNormal">From a single owner collection of 3,000+ items. A chaotic uncatalogued miscellany of items from 17th to 20th Century.
