General John J PershingReverse Painted Glass 3-7/8\" Paperweight, Heavy Wear (c 1918)
This item is a vintage World War I-era paperweight featuring a reverse-painted glass design of General John J. Pershing. He served as the commander of the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I from 1917 to 1920.
The front (top) of the paperweight is a smooth round disk. All the detail is incised on the bottom. Originally, the entire bottom would have had a gold-colored finish, but it is heavily worn on this paperweight, as you can see in the photos. The paperweight measures just a tad under 4 inches, roughly at 3-7/8 inches. There are no chips or cracks in the glass that I can see.
The bottom of the rim has the legend \"Copyrighted . Oct . 1918 .\"
