HISTORICAL NOTE:

Goldfield, Nevadaissemi-abandoned boomtown and living ghost town.Situated in southwestern Nevada alongU.S. Route 95, it sits roughly halfway between Reno and Las Vegas. Founded in 1902 following a massive gold discovery, Goldfield rapidly expanded to become Nevada\'s largest city by 1906, peaking at a population of around 20,000 residents. However, the rich ore deposits quickly depleted by the 1910s, and a catastrophic fire in 1923 wiped out 53 city blocks. Today, it is home to fewer than 300 year-round residents but remains a popular stop for road-trippers, history buffs, and paranormal enthusiasts.
