Up for sale is a vintage GBD Speciale Standard 255, made in France.
Shape 255 is a classic Canadian with a compact billiard bowl, long oval shank, and short tapered stem. At only 1.2 oz / 33 g, this is an exceptionally lightweight pipe that should make a comfortable clencher.
The warm natural finish displays attractive cross grain along the shank, with birdseye and flame grain around the bowl. The pipe is stamped GBD in an oval over SPECIALE STANDARD on the left side of the shank and FRANCE over 255 on the right.
This used estate pipe has been cleaned, sanitized, and polished and is ready to smoke. The chamber is clean with a thin, even layer of carbon remaining. The rim shows some remaining darkening and light wear along the inner edge. The briar has scattered small pits, fills, scratches, and handling marks consistent with age and prior use. The stem has been polished and shows light surface wear without any significant tooth damage.
No cracks, burnout, or repairs noted. The stem fits securely and the airway is open. The stamping remains readable. Please review all photos closely for Weight: 1.2 oz / 33 g
