This 1964 collector’s book is in the original box that it was first mailed in and is an unopened first edition hardback ( see pictures of box whose seals are intact.)
United Press International (UPI) was the first news gathering agency to report on the death of President Kennedy on that fateful day in Dallas. Just months after the assassination, UPI partnered with American Heritage Magazine to print this edition, recognizing the historical import of this tragic event in American history. It was co-branded with major newspapers around the U.S. and heavily promoted and thousands were sold, but very few remain unopened.
This is a 1st edition originally purchased in early 1964. The box is unopened, hence just pictures of box itself, with a picture of what the cover looks like, and 61 years after the event, it is a nice collectors piece.
When eventually opened, it would be best stored in an archival sleeve, box or shadow box. We believe this book was most likely
Co-branded with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, as the original owner was a Milwaukee family, but not 100% sure, and do not want to open to find out.
