In daylight, this large Sterling Hill specimen shows the locality's classic ore texture: a pale calcite matrix densely studded with rounded black franklinite grains and scattered tan willemite, giving the whole face a granular salt-and-pepper character.Under shortwave, the specimen lights up in a dense mosaic of brilliant electric green willemite grains packed across a field of vivid red-orange calcite, with the black franklinite holding its own as dark relief between them. Under longwave the calcite deepens toward pink-red while the willemite holds a bright yellow-green, shifting the balance noticeably between wavelengths. This piece is also strongly phosphorescent, with the willemite continuing to glow green for a sustained afterglow once the shortwave lamp is switched off.
