Either Black Forest or French carved, we're uncertain. The unique form and carved decorative style of this one will fit well in either setting, and is trimmed out in hand carved appliqué with an incised and lac-filled monogram A M. The old glove box is 11.25" x 4.25" and is 3.75" high when closed. It would be lovely now as a documents, letters, jewelry OR gloves box, or just as a stunning Country French table box. Works well in a room that appreciates the fine old Black Forest items, too. No key at listing time, and priced accordingly. If we find one that will fit, I'll annotate the listing. Otherwise, no key.Very good condition for age and type. No serious chips on the old wood. The white trim has one chipped curlicue there above and to the right of the M on the top of the box, and a tip at the far right, as well. One of the carved cabochons is also gone there adorning the escutcheon surrounding the keyhole. The interior is the old original silk moire, but it has some damage which we've shown you in our images. It is so tempting to re-line it in creamy white silk moire, instead, and it's a simple job to do it if you decide to. Would be just stunning. But here it is as we have found it. A true work of artisan's skill, rises to fine art. The box is not perfect, but it is so appealing and unusual, I just couldn't pass it by.

Insurance has been eliminated as an option by , forcing us sellers to either ship your items without insurance or assume that expense also. We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replaceable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Please remember that when leaving DSR ratings. Thanks!
Our shipping days are usually Monday and Friday though we do our best to ship within one to two days once paid. Otherwise, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.
