The Deluxe Edition — Book Twelve
Bill Willingham Art by Mark Buckingham & guest artists Vertigo / DC Comics · 2016 ☽
In Bill Willingham’s Eisner Award–winning Fables, the characters of fairy tale and folklore — driven from their Homelands by a conqueror — live in secret among us. This twelfth Deluxe volume gathers the “Super Team” and “Inherit the Wind” storylines: the sorcerer Mister Dark has seized Fabletown, forcing the Fables to flee to the Farm; Pinocchio hatches a plan to remake certain Fables into a superhero team to fight back; and Bigby and Snow White’s cubs come into their own as a prophecy reveals the fates awaiting them — with a Rose Red Christmas tale rounding out the collection.
The Deluxe Editions are the premium oversized hardcover format for the series. Mark Buckingham’s long-running art is joined here by a roster of guest artists including Eric Shanower, Terry Moore, Adam Hughes, and P. Craig Russell. This copy is brand new and still in its original factory shrink-wrap.
Worth Knowing
Fables ran for 150 issues (2002–2015) and collected multiple Eisner Awards, spinning off the companion series Jack of Fables and Fairest and the acclaimed video game The Wolf Among Us. Willingham created and wrote the series; Buckingham was its signature artist across nearly the whole run.
Still sealed from the factory — one of the oversized Deluxe hardcovers that collectors line up to complete the run.
